At Toll Group, we are proud to be expanding our Government and Defence portfolio through the Defence Theatre Logistics (DTL) contract.
We're looking for a skilled Transport Planner to help drive operational efficiency, service excellence, and continuous improvement across multiple Defence sites nationwide.
Based at Robertson Barracks in NT, you'll act as a critical bridge between warehouse, customer service, and operational teams to consolidate consignments, manage transport bookings, and optimise route and carrier utilisation.

How you'll make the right impact
As a Transport Planner,



you'll play a key role in ensuring our Defence logistics operations run efficiently and in line with contract expectations.
Reporting to the Regional Manager, you will:
Plan and schedule multimodal transport runs to maximise fleet utilisation and efficiently.
Use ERP/WMS and Transport Management Systems (TMS) to manage bookings, run sheets, and tracking.
Allocate deliveries and collections across company drivers and subcontractors.
Ensure compliance with transport regulations (COR), fatigue management requirements, and company policies.
Coordinate with warehouse teams to optimise loading, consolidation, and despatch activities.
Communicate with customers regarding delivery schedules and service updates.
Maintain accurate transport records and documentation.
Provide input to performance reports and assist with carrier utilisation analysis.
Contribute to route optimisation, cost reduction, and service improvement initiatives.
Escalate service failures or customer-impacting issues to Regional Manager and relevant operational leads.
What you'll bring
We're looking for motivated professionals who bring:
3-5 years' experience in warehouse and distribution operations, reporting, or process improvement.
Experience in supply chain, logistics, Defence contracts, or complex operations (preferred).




Hold a valid Truck Licence MR, HR or HC Licence (highly desirable).
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related fields will be highly regarded.
Robust requirements gathering, process mapping, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft suite.
Proficiency with ERP/WMS/TMS systems and their integration with operations.
Excellent communication skills with ability to work as part of a high performing team.
Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities, with a focus on problem solving.
Eligibility to make the grade
Be an Australian Citizen.
Be eligible to obtain and maintain an AGSVA Defence Security Clearance (Baseline or higher).
Be prepared to undertake pre-employment checks including criminal history, medical, and other background assessments.
