The role is based at DroneShield's central Sydney headquarters.
Overseas on-the-ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Netherlands, Denmark,



Mexico and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries worldwide.
About the role
DroneShield is seeking a Document & Graphics Lead to lead the Document & Graphics team in Sydney, New South Wales.
Reporting to the VP, Design, this role offers a unique opportunity to lead the development of all customers facing documentation within the company.
You will collaborate closely with designers, writers, project managers, and product managers to ensure all design and documentation outputs are delivered efficiently, consistently, and to a high standard of quality.
This role plays a key part in aligning user experience, documentation, and brand across the entire product lifecycle.
Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations
Lead, manage, and develop a multidisciplinary team of graphic designers and technical writers, including hiring, mentoring, performance management and task prioritisation
Provide strategic oversight across technical documentation, ensuring alignment with business goals, user needs, and brand standards
Manage documentation delivery through Agile practices, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and delivery cadence
Administer and maintain Jira boards and workflows to support team delivery and visibility
Facilitate team meetings, including daily stand-ups and retrospectives with the documentation team
Accountable for document release and coordination between design,



documentation, product, engineering, and other stakeholders
Alignment with project and product managers to ensure documentation releases on time
Lead and facilitate cross-functional and technical discussions to drive alignment on design and documentation outcomes
Oversee the planning creation, and delivery of technical documentation (e.g. User Manuals, Quick Start Guides, Release Notes, How-To Guides)
Manage documentation workflows, including version control, naming conventions, BOM reviews and release processes
Conduct quality assurance and documentation reviews across projects
Drive continuous improvement across processes, quality standards, and delivery practices
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
Degree in Technical Communication, Design, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
Experience leading or managing multidisciplinary teams, including both writers and designers
Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies, particularly in a documentation or content delivery context
Experience with core design and documentation tools (e.g. Confluence, Adobe InDesign, Docs-as-code toolchain) and project management platforms such as Jira
Experience managing documentation workflows, version control, and release processes
Experience working within regulated or compliance-driven environments, including export control requirements
High attention to detail with a focus on quality, consistency, and governance
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines
