A permanent part time or casual position is now available for an early career clinical optometrist, working collaboratively within an ophthalmology practice providing patient care for Surgical & Medical Retina, Glaucoma, Cataracts & Eye emergencies

This is a dual clinical support role for day to day assessment and independent patient clinical care with significant autonomy and an expectation to lead clinic development activities, audit, evaluation, case based teaching, skills transfer and research. The successful candidate would become an integral member of the Clinical team advancing to take on a leading role in technical areas including information technology.

We require up to 4 sessions/week commitment. (A session is 5 hours)

Clinical responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Full patient work up including efficient and accurate subjective refraction





Retinal imaging and testing (OCT / Fundus Fluorescein Angiography / HFA / Biometry)

Plan and setup for minor procedures

To act as an independent clinician managing walk in and review clinics to assess and triage urgent referrals including foreign body removal.

Provide clinical support for injection treatments and ophthalmology consulting clinics.

Minimum 2 years retail clinical optometry experience post-graduation with therapeutics endorsement.

Empathy for patients and excellent listening skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Highly organized with productive time management and absolute attention to detail

Flexibility and initiative are critical in this role as you would be working in a team workplace

Advanced computer and IT skills are required for a role in this modern high tech practice which is heavily dependent on software driven systems
