Role Summary
The Institutional Business Relationship Manager (RM) is an important relationship management and sales servicing role within Neuberger's Australian institutional business.
The RM will work both autonomously and closely with senior Client Advisors on large institutions, across a broad set of public and private market investment strategies.
The RM's objective is to better penetrate large institutions, predominantly superfunds, through supporting prospecting and cross-selling activities and managing existing client relationships.
The RM is expected to have the ability to forge close relationships with senior client representatives, be adept at understanding client needs, and in response to those needs show an ability to deliver value-added services customised to each client's requirements.
The role also requires the RM to develop strong relationships with Neuberger's investment teams, including portfolio managers and product specialists, together with marketing, client service, legal and compliance, operations and other functions across the firm, adopting a flexible and team-oriented outlook.
Responsibilities
Partner with others on the client coverage team on day-to-day client coverage and new business development tasks to ensure team goals are met.
Tasks may involve meeting preparation, product / client targeting, roadshow planning / execution, responding to client requests and meeting follow ups.
A key part of the role will be to expand relationship with larger clients / prospects with multiple touch points (e.g., multiple product heads), delivering the firm via providing value-add insights and access to investment experts.
Develop and maintain deep relationships across key relationships across superannuation funds, asset consultants and insurance companies Develop and execute on individual client relationship plans working closely with the Client Advisors through understanding clients' asset allocation preferences, the current role Neuberger plays in their portfolio and building detailed plans around how Neuberger can assist those firms meet their desired investment outcomes.
Work with Client Advisors to identify new business opportunities and stay abreast of incumbent manager searches.
Participate in the planning for and attend portfolio manager roadshow meetings with existing clients.




Coordinate and attend portfolio review meetings with Portfolio Managers/Client Advisors; develop the relationship via uncovering cross-sell opportunities and areas to improve client experience.
Attend industry conferences as a senior representative of Neuberger as required.
Coordinate offshore client meetings, including developing content and materials.
Support client investment due diligence on new and existing business, including mandates, funds and co-investments.
Provide oversight of new client onboarding by Client Service team Support the team with client and prospect organisation and contact management, including CRM maintenance, using Salesforce and other databases and systems Liaise with and establish robust relationships with internal investment teams, including portfolio managers and product specialists globally, to enhance delivery of services to clients.
Support the Client Advisors in the coordination and production of RFPs.
Responsibilities include liaising with the RFP team and investment teams and ensuring RFP deadlines and requirements are met.
Participate in team projects to enhance client coverage strategy and execution.
Requirements
7-10 years of relevant institutional asset management experience, preferably in a multi-asset class work environment, covering SMA and commingled fund products Sophisticated in markets and covering complex clients.
Knowledge of portfolio construction and role in portfolios of various asset classes Knowledge of multiple asset classes is preferred; exhibits high degree of interest in financial markets and investment strategy; interest in expanding knowledge across a range of asset classes.
Strong achievement in undergraduate degree in finance, economics or related disciplines Highly motivated team-player with a desire to work on a wide range of projects and prioritise appropriately.
Possess a partnership mindset and ability to build relationships across all levels at client organisations and across global teams in a high-pressure environment.
