About our Client:
Our Client, an cutting-edge leader in property development and construction based in Darwin, Northern Territory is seeking a Group Payroll Officer to join the team.
About the Role & Responsibilities:
This Darwin-based role will manage end-to-end payroll processing across multiple entities within the Group, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timely delivery of payroll services while providing valuable workforce reporting and insights.
Process payroll accurately and on time across all Group entities
Manage payroll changes including new starters, terminations, timesheets, pay adjustments, and off-cycle payments
Calculate final pays and complete payroll requirements for employee departures
Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including tax, banking, and payroll information
Prepare payroll journals, reconciliations, accruals, and general ledger entries
Process payroll payments, including banking files and related transactions
Prepare and lodge payroll compliance requirements, including PAYG, superannuation, IAS, and workers compensation reporting
Support end-of-financial-year payroll activities, including reconciliations, STP finalisation, and audit requirements
Prepare payroll and workforce reports for Finance, HR, and management
Maintain payroll systems and ensure data accuracy
Identify and implement improvements to payroll processes and reporting
Maintain payroll procedures and documentation to support compliance
Respond to payroll enquiries from employees and managers
Work closely with Finance and People & Culture to ensure accurate payroll processing and reporting
To be successful for this role, you will need the following:
Experience processing payroll across multiple departments or business entities.
Experience managing payroll for approximately 300 employees, with exposure to weekly, fortnightly, and monthly pay cycles highly regarded.
Exposure to Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions is desirable.
Previous payroll experience within the construction and/or hospitality industries is advantageous.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships.
Sound knowledge of payroll legislation, modern awards, and enterprise agreements.
A proactive approach with a continuous improvement mindset and a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
Minimum of 1-2 years' payroll experience in a similar role.
