Shipping & Transport Manager - Queensland

We're seeking an experienced
Shipping & Transport Manager
to lead our Queensland shipping operations and play a key role in delivering protected, efficient, and successful vessel loading and unloading activities.
About the Role
Reporting to the
Managing Director - Workshop & Shipping
, you will oversee the planning and execution of shipping operations across Queensland and, where required, support operations nationally.
This is a permanent full-time management role requiring exceptional organisational skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to build strong relationships with customers, port authorities, stevedores, shipping agents, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate end-to-end ship loading and unloading operations to ensure safe and efficient vessel turnaround.
Liaise with shipping agents, port authorities and stevedores to coordinate vessel arrivals, discharge sequences, berth bookings and labour requirements.
Prepare and organise equipment for shipping operations, ensuring readiness and operational efficiency.
Assist with equipment cleaning and general wharf activities as required.
Support operational teams during vessel discharge, including providing trade support and relieving machinery operators during breaks.
Prepare equipment hire and shipping invoicing information.
Coordinate annual inspections of grabs in accordance with Marine Orders Part 32.
Ensure all operations comply with Workplace Health and Safety legislation, company policies, quality systems, biosecurity requirements and Port Authority procedures.
Promote and strengthen BCS' positive safety culture.
Partner with the Senior Leadership Team and Human Resources to support workforce planning, recruitment, training and development.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Be available outside normal business hours to support operational requirements when needed.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
Minimum five years' experience in a shipping, logistics or bulk cargo management role.
Preferred experience coordinating bulk ship loading and unloading operations.
Knowledge of Australian biosecurity requirements and operational compliance.
Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate, mentor and develop teams.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
High level of technical aptitude and mechanical understanding.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
A willingness to obtain a Semi-Trailer (HC) licence if not already held.
Flexibility to travel domestically when required.
