Maker Consulting Services
New South Wales
You're an engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, seeing projects come to life and making a genuine contribution to the communities they help create. You're looking for more responsibility, greater variety and the prospect to keep growing without sacrificing the lifestyle you've worked hard to build.
At Maker Consulting Services, you'll join a growing Newcastle team delivering civil engineering projects across NSW. From residential subdivisions and industrial developments to roads, stormwater infrastructure and public domain works, you'll be involved throughout the project lifecycle alongside experienced professionals who value collaboration, practical thinking and quality outcomes.
Whether you're a Mid-Level Engineer ready to take the next step or a Senior Engineer seeking greater autonomy, project influence and mentoring opportunities, this role provides the platform to build the career you want. As our Newcastle office grows, so will your opportunity to lead projects, strengthen client relationships and help shape the future of the team.
Build a Career That Works for You
The best engineering careers are about more than interesting projects. They're built on continuous learning, strong professional relationships and the opportunity to develop without compromising the things that matter outside of work.
That's the environment we've built at Maker - one where talented engineers are trusted to make decisions, supported to keep learning, and where knowledge is shared, ideas are encouraged, and achievements are recognised. We're proud of the collaborative team we've built, and the projects you work on won't just be drawings on a screen - they'll become the roads, neighbourhoods and public spaces that shape communities across NSW.
Along the way,
you'll enjoy:
A genuine four-day working week because great careers shouldn't come at the expense of life outside work.
Ownership of meaningful projects from concept through to construction.
An employee-owned business where your contribution matters.
Career progression based on capability and contribution, not simply years of experience.
Mentoring, technical development and support towards CPEng.
A diverse range of projects that continue to broaden your experience.
Flexible working arrangements and a collaborative team that celebrates success.
The Role You'll Play
You'll play an important role in delivering projects that leave a lasting impact on the communities they're built for.
Working alongside experienced engineers, designers and project managers, you'll be involved from early concept design and approvals through to detailed design and construction support. You'll work directly with clients, councils, service authorities, contractors and multidisciplinary teams to deliver practical solutions that balance technical quality with commercial outcomes.
Depending on your experience, you'll take ownership of projects or key design packages while continuing to develop your technical, client management and leadership capability. As you grow, you'll also have opportunities to mentor engineers,
contribute to business development and influence the direction of our Newcastle team.
Your day-to-day work will include:
Delivering civil engineering design and documentation across land development and public infrastructure projects.
Designing roads, earthworks, stormwater drainage and associated civil infrastructure.
Coordinating with clients, councils, service authorities, contractors and project teams.
Managing deliverables from planning and approvals through to construction.
Developing practical and innovative engineering solutions.
Providing guidance and mentoring to graduate and junior engineers.
About You
You enjoy solving problems, take pride in producing quality work and value collaboration. With a naturally curious mindset, you're motivated to learn, communicate well and enjoy taking ownership of your work. Most importantly, you're looking for a place where you can continue developing as an engineer, project leader and mentor.
You will also bring:
A Bachelor of Civil Engineering.
3-8+ years' consulting experience, ideally in land development or civil infrastructure.
Experience designing roads, earthworks, stormwater drainage and associated infrastructure.
Experience using 12d, together with AutoCAD/Civil 3D, DRAINS and MUSIC.
A sound understanding of Australian Standards, local government requirements and engineering design principles.
Strong communication, report writing and stakeholder management skills.
CPEng accreditation, or the ambition to achieve it with support from the business.
Ready for What's Next?
We're not just looking for someone who wants to build a career with us and help shape the future of our Newcastle team.
