The Department of Health and Tasmanian Health Service is looking for suitable applicants for a Staff Specialist Hospital@home vacancy.
The Team
Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) is Tasmania's largest hospital and major referral centre.
As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH collaborates with the University of Tasmania and other institutions.
All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
The Hospital@home program sits within the Department of Sub-acute, Aged & Community Services and provides care to a range of medical, surgical and sub-specialty patients who require medical management that can be delivered in the community environment.
The Hospital@home programme was started in April **** and currently has 30 beds, 18 acute & 12 subacute Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) beds.
We also have a Rapid Response service that assesses community patients to prevent hospital admission.
The service runs 7-days per week.
At present we assess around 220 patients a month.
Our average length of stay of 5-6 days for acute patients and 13 for subacute.
Our case mix and the age of our patients is broad.
Greater than 60% of our patients are admitted directly from the community avoiding the hospital entirely.
The rest are admitting from the Royal Hobart Hospital, both inpatient wards and the emergency department.
These patients are then cared for in community health centres, their homes, or residential aged care facilities.
The interdisciplinary service is comprised of Medical staff, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Pharmacists, and Allied Health Professionals, who all work together to deliver effective clinical care.
The Role
Provide inpatient services and work within the Hospital@home team as directed by the Head of Hospital@home.
Provide clinical services of the highest possible standard to patients who are being cared for by Hospital@home.
Actively pursue improved outcomes for patients by participating in relevant teaching and research.
Participate in the Hospital@home education program.
Participate in the Hospital@home on-call roster & quality improvement activities.

Our Hospital@home Specialist position provide opportunities for those seeking to provide quality care to patients in their homes.
It is suitable for General Physicians, Geriatricians, Emergency Physician, General Practitioners, or other suitable medical specialists.

Fixed term part time, day worker position, working up to 19 hours per fortnight, commencing from 8 November **** until 8 August ****.

Specialist Medical Practitioners
Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $222,789 - $319,701 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation + access to salary packaging
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $309,222 - $319,701 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award
In addition, the following allowances and benefit, calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
Salary packaging options include a range of benefits like living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meals and entertainment every year
Provision of a motor vehicle allowance of $30,254 per annum, pro rata
Subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of base salary plus on-call, pro rata) of additional payment will be paid from (PPS).




If not admitted to the PPS, a 35% in lieu of PPS of base salary will be paid
Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $17,483 per annum, pro rata

Fitness Passport – You, and your family can access 40+ fitness facilities across Tasmania for just $***** per week per person, or $***** for a family.

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria: (Insert the essential requirement from SOD - excluding pre-employment check as it already outlined in the application guide)
Holds specialist registration; or
Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway; or
Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the speciality.
