About the company
Our client is a niche underwriting agency with a genuine passion for motor insurance.
After strong growth over the past five years, they are looking for an experienced risk professional to take ownership of operational risk across the business as they continue to grow.
The role
The role.
Reporting to the Finance and Risk Manager, you will be the sole risk professional in the business.
This is a hands-on role with real scope and genuine accountability.
You will work closely with senior leaders across the business to identify, assess and manage risk, uplifting the control environment as the business scales.
We need someone who can start quickly and get on with it.

What you will be doing




Owning the operational risk framework, including risk identification, assessment and treatment
Reviewing and uplifting controls, policies and processes across the business
Managing breach and incident processes from investigation through to remediation
Producing risk reporting, insights and root cause analysis for senior stakeholders
Leading complaints management including IDR/EDR and acting as the key AFCA contact
Delivering risk awareness training and capability uplift across the business
Engaging with senior stakeholders and external partners
What we are looking for
5 or more years in Australian insurance, with strong operational risk experience (essential)
Proven experience in breach and incident management and AFCA engagement
Analytical and data driven with strong communication and stakeholder skills
Someone comfortable working in a standalone, rapid paced environment
