Our team is currently seeking to appoint aPrincipal Project Officer – Systems and Data
Lead the strategic development and continuous improvement of information systems, data governance and digital capabilities that underpin the Biodiversity Conservation Program, enabling evidence-based decision-making and effective program delivery across NSW.
This is a significant leadership opportunity within the Conservation Programs division, where you will drive the design, governance and integration of systems and data that support biodiversity conservation outcomes.
Working collaboratively with internal business units, government stakeholders and technical specialists, you will lead system improvement initiatives, oversee capital investment projects, and provide expert advice on data management, information governance and technology solutions.
You will play a critical role in building organisational capability, improving data quality and accessibility, and fostering a culture of strong data stewardship to support strategic and operational decision-making across the Biodiversity Conservation Program
About You
Demonstrated experience leading systems, data, technology or digital transformation initiatives within complex programs or organisations.
Extensive experience in data management, information governance and systems development, with a strong understanding of best-practice approaches.
Proven ability to lead complex projects,



develop business cases and manage competing priorities while delivering high-quality outcomes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts and data insights into transparent, practical advice for a range of stakeholders.
Experience building strategic partnerships and influencing stakeholders across diverse business areas to drive change and achieve shared outcomes.
Strong understanding of technology, data integration and digital systems, with the ability to identify opportunities to improve information sharing, reporting and decision-making.
Demonstrated leadership capability with experience developing team capability, driving continuous improvement and supporting organisational change.
Understanding of biodiversity conservation, environmental management or related government programs is desirable.
Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated equivalent professional experience.
