This pivotal role functions as a multi-disciplinary team member to provide flexible, holistic and culturally appropriate health care services, including direct clinical care once registered, to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and their families presenting to Health Services in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.
In this role, you will also be an advocate for our Aboriginal patients and their families in terms of the provision of culturally appropriate healthcare.
Please note that this role may require weekend or afternoon shifts.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
Must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent (an applicant's race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act ****, NSW) and a demonstrated ability to effectively and sensitively liaise and communicate with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities and agencies.
Has undertaken or is willing to undertake, a Certificate IV Aboriginal Primary Health Care Practice with current registration as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and liaise with other health professionals and external agencies to facilitate integrated care for Aboriginal people.
Demonstrated understanding of the issues impacting the health of Aboriginal people, particularly mental health, drug & alcohol, psychosocial, domestic violence or sexual assault issues.
Must be able to identify and implement health promotion activities within a secure environment for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Patients.
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, time management, and computer literacy, including Microsoft Office programs
Ability to work unsupervised, take initiative, and take a lead role in initiating and carrying out community development activities.
