The practice is led by respected and sought-after practitioners who are recognised among the leading criminal defence lawyers in South East Queensland.
We are seeking a full-time Law Clerk to join the firm's Brisbane office.
This opportunity is ideally suited to a first or second-year law student who is passionate about building a long-term career in criminal defence.
We also welcome applications from experienced law clerks looking to further develop their advocacy and court exposure within a leading specialist practice.
This is a genuine hands-on opportunity where you will work closely with experienced practitioners on a broad range of serious criminal matters across Queensland and New South Wales.
The role will involve:
Taking instructions from clients, including attending correctional centres
Preparing and submitting Legal Aid Queensland applications
Appearing at mentions in the Magistrates and District Courts
Instructing Counsel in District and Supreme Court matters
Assisting with legal preparation, case management, and administrative support as required
You will join a tight-knit, high-performing team working primarily with privately funded clients across complex and high-profile criminal matters.
From the outset, you will gain meaningful courtroom exposure, direct mentoring from respected practitioners, and ongoing opportunities to develop your advocacy, strategy,



and case management skills.

Who We're Looking For

You are someone who performs well under pressure, communicates confidently, and thrives in fast-paced environments.
You are eager to learn, willing to take initiative, and excited by the prospect of gaining practical courtroom experience early in your legal career.
You will ideally demonstrate:
A genuine long-term interest in criminal law, experience would be ideal but not necessary
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Professionalism and emotional maturity when dealing with clients
Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability
Confidence working within a high-performing team environment
Ability to work Full Time, 8am -5pm, Weekdays.
