An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to join our occupational therapy team, teachers and other allied health professionals, working in a special school to support Autistic students.
In this school-based role you should expect to:
be supported by an experienced team of 7 occupational therapists and, more broadly, by a dynamic team of over 20 therapists (speech, OT and music)

Role Overview
As an Occupational Therapist at Giant Steps, you will work alongside others in a collaborative team environment to develop and deliver individualised supports and programs that will enable each individual to reach their full potential.
The skills you will bring to the transdisciplinary team as an Occupational Therapist include:
Assessment of individual needs including functional support needs, sensory profiles and activities of daily living.
Setting appropriate individualised goals and tracking progress through Goal Attainment Scaling.




Development and implementation of supports and strategies that meet needs of the individual and allow them to participate and engage in their daily occupations specifically, of learning, looking after themselves, play/leisure and social and community participation.
Collaboration with teachers, other allied health professionals and teachers' aides to support the development and implementation of occupational goals, supports and strategies.
Liaising with families in relation to goals, strategies and assessment.
Chance to support the professional learning of parents and colleagues by disseminating information through planned professional development.
