About the role
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role will lead the City's Contracts & Procurement Team and help maintain consistent improvements.
This is a leadership opportunity for someone who can balance probity with practicality, compliance with customer service, and policy with partnership.
This role will influence how the City approaches strategic procurement, contract governance, supplier relationships, and continuous improvement.
Just as importantly, it will coach and support already capable team, supportive frank, fearless and practical advice that enables positive outcomes.
What you will lead
• A positive, capable and service-focused Contracts & Procurement team.
• Strategic procurement planning that supports corporate priorities and community outcomes into the future.
• Early engagement with business areas so procurement advice is timely, useful and outcome focused.
• Undertaking spend analysis, probity reporting and market engagement that improve value-for-money.
• Strong contract governance, supplier performance management and risk-based decision-making.
• Practical training, guidance, and tools that build organisational procurement capability.
• Continuous improvement in all that the City does, moving from business need to contract award and contracted delivery.
• Clear, audience-focused reporting, insights and recommendations for leaders and stakeholders.
• High standards of probity, compliance,



data integrity and public sector accountability.

You will also bring relevant qualifications or equivalent experience, strong procurement and contract management expertise, demonstrated leadership capability, sound judgement, excellent communication skills, digital confidence and a strong understanding of governance, risk, and public sector accountability.
