We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Laboratory Technician to support our research and product development and testing activities. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical laboratory work and takes pride in producing high-quality experimental results.
The successful candidate will report to the Product Development Manager and will be responsible for carrying out day-to-day laboratory experiments by following established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), operating analytical instruments, preparing and testing samples, and maintaining accurate laboratory records. The role requires a proactive, organised individual who can work both independently and collaboratively in a agile R&D; environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct laboratory experiments in accordance with established SOPs and test plans.
Operate and maintain a range of analytical instruments, including (but not limited to): Laser diffraction particle size analyser (e.g. Mastersizer), ICP-OES, TGA and other routine laboratory equipment as required.
Support basic materials testing activities, including mixing, casting and testing of concrete or mortar specimens where required.
Prepare samples for internal and external testing.
Record experimental procedures, observations and results accurately.
Summarise experimental activities and key observations for the project team.
Perform routine laboratory housekeeping, equipment cleaning and basic instrument maintenance.
Assist with inventory management, consumables and chemical stock control.




Follow laboratory safety procedures, risk assessments and quality management requirements.
Collaborate effectively with engineers and scientists to ensure timely delivery of experimental programs.
Travel between company sites and external laboratories as required to support project activities.
Minimum 1 year of experience working as a Laboratory Technician or in a similar laboratory-based role, including operation of analytical laboratory instrumentation and sample preparation activities.
Demonstrated experience following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions and experimental protocols with a high level of accuracy.
Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to laboratory work.
Ability to accurately document experimental procedures and observations.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
Commitment to laboratory safety and quality practices.
Must have the right to work in Australia.
Current Australian driver's licence and willingness to travel between sites as required.
Experience in an industrial, manufacturing, materials, chemical or research laboratory.
Experience with basic concrete or mortar preparation and testing.
Familiarity with laboratory quality systems and calibration procedures.
Experience in supporting pilot-scale or product development activities.
Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Laboratory Technology or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience).
