The position
The Carer is responsible for supporting young people living in accommodation by assisting with day-to-day activities and implementing therapeutic care practices. Working closely with the House Coordinator and broader care team, the Carer acts as a positive role model and mentor while supporting each young person's individual case plan.
This role requires availability for shift work, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and sleepover shifts.
Primary accountabilities of the role of carer include, but are not limited to:
Supporting the implementation of individual case plans in collaboration with the House Coordinator and care team
Building positive and supportive relationships with young people
Assisting young people to develop personal, living and independent living skills
Supporting participation in educational, vocational, recreational and community activities
Promoting positive behaviour and supporting young people using a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach
Responding appropriately to incidents and challenging behaviours to ensure the safety and wellbeing of young people
Maintaining accurate records, reports and documentation in accordance with Marist180 procedures
Participating in team meetings, supervision,



training and development opportunities
Contributing to a secure, positive and productive workplace environment
To be considered for this position, you are required to have:
Diploma in Youth Work, Community Services or a related discipline
Experience working with children and young people in a residential or supported accommodation setting
Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries
For Aboriginal Staff, a qualification is desirable, but experience and willingness to participate in training is acceptable.
Work Requirement:
Current First Aid and CPR certificate.
Working With Vulnerable People.
Clear National Criminal History Check.
Unrestricted ACT Driver's Licence.
Eligibility to work in Australia.
Provide Marist180 consent to complete a verification of the Residential Care Workers Register managed by the Office of the Children's Guardian.
