GKC Group is a Sydney-based civil construction, demolition, remediation and bulk excavation contractor delivering works across commercial, industrial, infrastructure and development projects.
We are seeking an experienced
Project Engineer
to join our Sydney-based team.
This role is suited to someone with strong technical capability, valuable communication skills, and the ability to support the successful delivery of civil, demolition, remediation and excavation projects from planning through to completion.
About the Role
The Project Engineer will support the Project Manager and site delivery team in the coordination, planning, documentation, procurement, quality, safety and commercial management of projects.
The successful candidate will assist with technical reviews, subcontractor coordination, procurement, RFIs, ITPs, QA documentation, variations, programming, client communication and project reporting.
This is a hands‐on project delivery role suited to someone who can work closely with site teams, consultants, subcontractors and clients to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Project Manager with the planning, coordination and delivery of projects.
Review project drawings, specifications, scopes, contracts, consultant documentation and site requirements.
Assist with project start‐up, site establishment planning and construction methodology.
Prepare, issue and track RFIs, technical queries and consultant correspondence.
Assist with procurement of subcontractors, suppliers, materials and project resources.
Prepare subcontractor and supplier scope packages.
Review subcontractor quotations and assist with procurement comparisons.
Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and site teams.
Assist with project programming, staging and short‐term lookaheads.
Support the preparation and implementation of SWMS, ITPs, checklists and QA documentation.
Manage quality records, inspections, test results and project compliance documentation.
Assist with HSEQ requirements, site inspections,



incident reporting and close‐out actions.
Monitor project progress, productivity, costs and resources.
Assist with preparation and management of variations, EOTs and commercial notices.
Prepare progress claims, supporting documentation and client reports where required.
Maintain drawing registers, document registers, correspondence registers and project files.
Track project deliverables, approvals, hold points and compliance requirements.
Attend site meetings, client meetings and subcontractor coordination meetings.
Assist with project handover, as‐built documentation, warranties and close‐out records.
Communicate clearly with project managers, supervisors, clients, consultants and subcontractors.
Identify project risks, delays, clashes and issues, and elevate them promptly.
Typical Scope of Works
The role may involve working across projects including:
Detailed excavation
Contaminated material handling
Shoring and retention works
Pavements
Kerbs and concrete works
FRP and minor structures
Services‐related civil works
Site establishment and enabling works
Software Experience
The successful candidate must be confident using, or able to quickly adapt to, the following software:
Microsoft Excel
Microsoft Word
Microsoft Outlook
Microsoft Teams
Microsoft SharePoint / OneDrive
Microsoft Project or similar programming software
Experience using HammerTech, Procore, Aconex, Cheops, Jobpac, Cubit, AutoCAD or other construction management software will be highly regarded.
Required Experience
To be considered for this role, you should have:
Previous experience as a Project Engineer, Site Engineer, Graduate Engineer or Contracts Administrator within construction.
Experience in civil construction, demolition, remediation, excavation or infrastructure works.
Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline.
Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications,



scopes and technical documentation.
Strong understanding of construction methodology, sequencing and site coordination.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Good commercial awareness and understanding of project costs, variations and procurement.
Ability to prepare and manage RFIs, ITPs, QA records and project documentation.
Strong attention to detail and document control skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
Strong problem‐solving skills and a proactive attitude.
Ability to work with site teams and support practical project delivery.
Current White Card.

Experience with any of the following will be highly regarded:
Bulk earthworks
Demolition projects
Remediation and contaminated land works
Shoring and excavation support
Stormwater and pavement works
Working around live services
Traffic management coordination
Commercial, industrial or infrastructure projects
Client‐side reporting and progress claims
Project cost tracking and forecasting
Preparation of variations and EOTs
Construction programming and lookahead planning
