We are a well-established mattress manufacturer based in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, currently seeking an experienced Industrial Sewing Machinist to join our team.
This is a hands-on role, primarily responsible for the sewing and overlocking of mattress panels and other bedding components. Working independently, you will also collaborate closely with the production team to ensure high-quality workmanship and meet production deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
Sewing, overlocking, and assembling mattress panels and covers using industrial sewing machines.
Cutting fabric to size and shape using simple patterns and templates.
Inspecting finished products to ensure they meet quality standards.
Assisting the production team with related tasks as required.
Maintaining cleanliness and safety in the sewing area.
Reporting any machine faults or material issues promptly.
What We’re Looking For:
Proven experience operating industrial sewing machines and overlockers.
Ability to read and interpret basic patterns and specifications.
Robust attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Positive communication skills and a positive attitude.
Ability to work independently as well as contribute effectively within a team.
Positive time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
Physically able, with the ability to perform repetitive manual work for extended periods.
