About the role
We are currently seeking an Intern Psychologist to join our established team in Maitland and Newcastle NSW.
This role is available either part time (minimum 24 hours per week) or full time.
You will provide join our psychology internship program and be supported to provide psychological assessment, consultation, therapeutic interventions and professional services to children, young people and adults funded under the National Disability Insurance Scheme, Medicare, DCJ and Fee for Service.
A Working with Children Check is required before starting in this position due to the nature of working with children and young people.

Skills and Experience




Relevant tertiary qualifications and registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Current Professional Indemnity Insurance
Relevant experience as a psychologist, or similar position, working with children, young people, adults and families within trauma informed frameworks or willingness to work with these clients' groups.
Eligible for a 5+1 Internship or working towards this.
Highly developed effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to think critically, problem solve and make timely, sound clinical decisions whilst working autonomously.
Ability to communicate effectively and engage and collaborate with consumers, their families and carers and/or other stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to deal with emotionally charged situations and unpredictable behaviour calmly and constructively
Well-developed written communication skills and competence in the use of information technology systems.
Ability to work independently and in consultation with the multidisciplinary team
