WHAN & BOXSELL PTY LTD About the Roles Whan & Boxsell Pty Ltd is seeking suitably experienced applicants to fill the following full-time positions: 2 x Deck Hands (ANZSCO ********* x Fishing Hands (ANZSCO ******) The successful applicants will work on commercial fishing vessels operating from Mooloolaba, Queensland, with work undertaken on commercial fishing vessels operating along the Queensland and New South Wales coast.
Key Responsibilities Deck Hands (ANZSCO ******) Handle ropes, wires and mooring equipment during berthing and unberthing.
Stand lookout watches and assist with vessel navigation as directed.
Assist with cargo operations using onboard equipment and secure cargo.
Assist with loading and unloading vessel supplies and equipment.
Patrol the vessel to ensure the safety of the vessel, crew and cargo.
Perform routine maintenance and inspections of deck equipment, rigging, lifesaving and firefighting equipment.
Maintain a secure and compliant work environment.
Fishing Hands (ANZSCO ******) Attach fishing gear and towing cables to nets.
Inspect and maintain fishing gear, nets, lines and traps.
Cast and lower nets, pots, lines and traps.
Prepare fishing lines, running gear and bait.
Haul fishing gear and remove fish and other marine life.
Sort, clean, preserve, store and refrigerate catch.
Maintain fishing equipment and ensure safe fishing operation Selection Criteria Deck Hands (ANZSCO ******) At least one year of relevant Australian commercial fishing experience,



or at least two years of recent relevant overseas experience.
Signed sea-time record or logbook.
Current STCW Basic Safety Training or equivalent safety and rescue certification.
Current First Aid qualification.
Ability to safely perform deck operations, vessel maintenance and lookout duties.
Fishing Hands (ANZSCO ******) At least one year of relevant Australian commercial fishing experience, or at least two years of recent relevant overseas experience.
Signed sea-time record or logbook.
Current STCW Basic Safety Training or equivalent safety and rescue certification.
Current First Aid qualification.
Experience operating fishing gear, handling catch and maintaining fishing equipment.
General Requirements Ability to work safely in a physically demanding commercial fishing environment.
Ability to work at sea for extended periods.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Commitment to workplace health and safety.
Salary Deck Hands (ANZSCO ******): $74,481 to $80,000 per annum plus superannuation.
Eligible employees may also receive a percentage of catch in accordance with company arrangements.
