About the Client:
Our client is a boutique Brisbane law firm with more than two decades of experience in property law, with a particular focus on retail shop leasing and shopping centre transactions.
The firm has built a dedicated leasing team that manages lease negotiations for landlords and owners of more than 20 shopping centres across Queensland and northern New South Wales.
It is a small, close-knit practice, meaning direct exposure to senior lawyers rather than being siloed under multiple layers of associates.
About the Position:
Our client is seeking aParalegalto support its retail shop leasing and property team.
You will assist with lease negotiations, documentation and administration for shopping centre landlords and owners, working directly with senior lawyers across a genuinely varied caseload including retail shop leasing, titling issues, ownership structures and project developments.
Key Responsibilities:
Preparing and reviewing retail shop lease documentation, including new leases, renewals, assignments and variations
Liaising with landlords, tenants, agents and centre managers throughout the leasing process
Conducting title searches and property due diligence
Assisting with settlement and administrative processes for property and leasing transactions
Supporting senior lawyers on project development and ownership structure matters
Maintaining accurate file records and managing deadlines across a live leasing caseload
Key Requirements:
Prior paralegal experience in property law, ideally with exposure to retail or commercial leasing
Understanding of retail shop lease legislation is highly regarded (Queensland's Retail Shop Leases Act creates specific statutory obligations distinct from general commercial leasing)
Strong attention to detail and document management skills
Ability to manage a busy caseload and competing deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A proactive, team-oriented approach
