Job Title - DESN Systems Engineer Job ID - ******* Security Clearance: NV1 Clearance Length of Contract: 12 months The role closes on 11/08/2026 Location: ACT Responsibilities: Provision formal Engineering advice regarding product engineering activities, across all relevant contracts.
Qualification and Experience: Be a Chartered Qualified Engineer of a registered Professional Engineering Body (such as Engineers Australia) equivalent, or be able to attain chartered status.
Tertiary qualifications in Systems Engineering or other equivalent experience.
Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Experience in leadership and management roles, and an ability to coach and guide teams in the implementation of strategy and change.
Experience working in cross-functional teams of diverse technical specialisations.
Required behaviours: Communicate effectively with line managers and Division Head, including consultation with them and taking appropriate direction from them.
Employ best practice in the execution of work, focusing on achieving outcomes, ensuring that decisions are made by appropriately qualified and experienced persons, and taking judicious risks.
Provide clarity on roles responsibilities.
Encourage transparency and truthfulness.
Encourage collaboration and communication.
SFIA Skills Sought: The design of systems to meet specified requirements, compatible with agreed systems architectures,



adhering to corporate standards and within constraints of performance and feasibility.
The identification of concepts and their translation into a design which forms the basis for systems construction and verification.
The design or selection of components.
The development of a complete set of detailed models, properties, and/or characteristics described in a form suitable for implementation.
The adoption and adaptation of systems design lifecycle models based on the context of the work and selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches.
DESN Level 4: Designs components using appropriate modelling techniques following agreed architectures, design standards, patterns and methodology.
Identifies and evaluates alternative design options and trade-offs.
Creates multiple design views to address the concerns of the different stakeholders of the architecture and to handle both functional and non-functional requirements.
Models, simulates or prototypes the behaviour of proposed systems components to enable approval by stakeholders.
Produces detailed design specification to form the basis for construction of systems.
Reviews, verifies and improves own designs against specifications.
