A privately owned family business with a solid reputation in the Scrap Metal Recycling Industry. Our primary function is the collection and processing of scrap metal to supply both domestic and international industries that require end-of-life metals to produce new products.
What are we looking for?
We are seeking an experienced and qualified Diesel Fitter/Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, self-motivated, flexible, and able to prioritize daily operational needs. In this role, you will be responsible for providing mechanical services, including assembling machine parts, and installing, maintaining, and repairing both mobile and fixed plant machinery. This is a day-shift role, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work as required.
Responsibilities:
Perform mechanical maintenance activities including breakdowns, preventative, planned, and unscheduled work.
Conduct maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, mobile and fixed plant machinery, and other heavy equipment.
Assist in assembling, installing, and maintaining recent plant equipment, including participation in the installation of a new shredder.
Ensure all activities meet health, safety, and environmental (HSE)



standards and requirements.
What do you need?
Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or Heavy-Duty Fitter in the heavy equipment or industrial sector.
Trade qualification in mechanical fitting or engineering (Fitter & Turner)
Physically capable with a strong mechanical aptitude and excellent problem-solving skills.
Flexibility to work with a range of machinery in various settings.
Positive, can-do attitude, with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
Commitment to safety practices and effective communication.
Driver's license and a reliable vehicle are required.
Demonstrated commitment to Work Health & Safety, with the confidence to speak up and follow procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in heavy fixed plant installation and maintenance.
Confined space, EWP (Elevating Work Platform), and forklift tickets (advantageous).
Outdoor Scrap Metal Yard - (not a warehouse)
Physically active, hands-on role
