Independent Music Academy (IMA) has been helping Brisbane students make music for over 20 years.
We're not your typical music school - our staff aren't just teachers, they're all accomplished musicians in their own right, skilled across a wide range of genres including Rock, Jazz, Classical, Metal, Funk, and more.
We operate across four Brisbane locations: Windsor, Ashgrove, Newstead, and Browns Plains, and we're looking for a passionate drummer to join our team.
The Role
We don't call our teachers "teachers" - we call them Mentors, because that's what the role is really about.
As an IMA Drum Mentor, you'll be working one-on-one with students of all ages and skill levels, helping them unlock their musical potential in a structured, supportive environment.
This is a casual position with flexible hours.
We'll work with you to build a teaching schedule that fits around your performing and other commitments.
What You'll Do
Deliver one-on-one drum lessons tailored to each student's goals, interests, and skill level




Guide students through a structured curriculum while keeping lessons engaging and fun
Help students develop technique, rhythm, groove, and a genuine love for playing
Communicate effectively with students and parents about progress and goals
Collaborate with fellow Mentors across our four locations
Who You Are
An accomplished drummer with strong practical musicianship
Passionate about music education and helping others learn
Professional, reliable, and able to build rapport with students of all ages
Skilled across multiple genres - we value versatility
Experienced in or genuinely interested in teaching (formal teaching qualifications are not required, but a passion for teaching is essential)
