About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership across a diverse portfolio of energy and infrastructure projects.
This is a senior, high-impact role with accountability for mechanical and balance-of-plant engineering, supporting projects across the full lifecycle — from tendering and design through to execution and commissioning.
You will act as the mechanical engineering authority, shaping engineering standards, managing design risk, and ensuring safe, reliable and commercially effective outcomes across both established and emerging energy technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the technical authority for mechanical and balance-of-plant engineering across ESS
Provide leadership across all project phases, including tendering,
design, execution and commissioning
Own mechanical engineering standards, processes and design risk management
Support delivery of energy solutions technologies, including BESS, transformers, grid systems and data centre infrastructure
Ensure compliance with applicable standards, codes and technical requirements
Lead engineering input to tenders, including technical reviews and risk assessments
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated system outcomes
Collaborate with the Principal Electrical Engineer on cross-discipline technical decisions
Act as an escalation point for complex or high-risk technical issues
About You
You are a senior mechanical engineer with deep experience in power generation or complex industrial systems, and a track record of leading technical outcomes on major projects.
You bring:
Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
Registered engineer status within QLD (RPEQ) and VIC (CAV)
Significant experience inpower generation, rotating equipment, or industrial plant systems
Strong knowledge ofbalance-of-plant systems, auxiliaries, and mechanical design
Experience contributing totenders, design reviews, and project execution
Demonstrated capability intechnical decision-making and design risk management
Understanding of safety-led engineering practices (SiD, HAZOP, FMECA)
Ability to influence and lead through collaboration and technical credibility
Experience withenergy transition technologiessuch as BESS or grid infrastructure will be highly regarded.
Additional Information
Travel required of up to 8 to 10 weeks per year (allowances for site deployments)
