About the Position
We are seeking an experienced and motivated leader to join our Community Safety team as Senior Community Safety Officer.
This position is responsible for supporting the delivery of effective community safety services through strong operational leadership, stakeholder engagement, and a commitment to customer-focused outcomes.
Working closely with the Manager and Coordinator Community Safety and you will provide high-level advice and operational support while leading and developing a team of Community Safety Officers.
You will foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture, ensuring staff are supported, accountable, and equipped to deliver exceptional service to the community.
You will also be responsible for;
Coordinate staffing levels including rostering, timesheets and leave management.
Act as the on-shift escalation point for Community Safety Officers, providing direction, support and sound operational decision-making during routine patrols, incidents and higher-risk situations.
Promptly delegate, attend and respond to service requests.
Undertake security patrols of the community and City of Bayswater assets, providing advice and information on community safety matters.
Assist in responding to requests for CCTV footage from internal and external stakeholders.
Contribute to the planning and implementation of community education/awareness programs.
Investigate alleged breaches of relevant legislation, interview complainants and witnesses,



analyse statements, issue infringement notices and take action for matters including parking, animals, litter, hazards and abandoned vehicles.
Contribute to the annual service planning and set team and individual goals and performance expectations.
Identify simple and complex risks and provide recommendations and solutions for improving operational challenges.
Embodies the City's values and abides by relevant legislation, management practices, policies, procedures and the City's Code of Conduct ensuring these are understood by all staff within the team.
This is a permanent, full time position.
About You
You are a people focused leader who enjoys supporting and developing teams to deliver great outcomes for the community.
You bring a strong understanding of compliance and community safety principles, along with the ability to interpret legislation and make sound decisions in complex situations.
You are a confident communicator who can build positive relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and members of the community.
Applicants will hold a National Police Clearance, Security Licence issued by WA Police, "C" class Drivers Licence, Certificate II in Security Operations and a current First Aid Certificate.
Previous experience in local government, community safety, regulatory services, security operations or a similar frontline leadership workplace will be highly regarded.
This is a shift work position operating on a 24/7 roster.
The successful candidate will be required to work 12-hour day and night shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
The roster pattern is two day shifts, followed by two night shifts, followed by four days off, with an additional rostered day off every six weeks.
