Job Description
Gilmac, Australia's top hay exporter, handles a quarter of the country's hay exports across three states, with major markets in Japan, Korea, and Taiwan.
We are seeking a qualified Electrician to support our hay processing plant operations, based out of our Midvale workshop travelling regionally to sites in Wagin, York and Current Norcia to support routine weekly preventative maintenance while also contributing during planned shutdown maintenance and other plant upgrades.
Responsibilities Schedule and perform routine electrical maintenance on automated hay press, conveyors, strapping equipment, packaging machinery and associated plant systems.
Diagnose and repair electrical faults on fixed plant, motors, sensors, control panels, drives and ancillary equipment.
Assist with breakdown response, planned shutdowns and preventative maintenance across site equipment.
Support troubleshooting of PLC-controlled plant and coordinate contractor support where required.
Maintain electrical records, maintenance database updates and action registers.
Manage stock levels for electrical parts and critical spares.
Work with site and maintenance teams to improve plant uptime, safety,
quality and continuous improvement outcomes.
Ensure all electrical work is completed safely and in accordance with Gilmac procedures, isolation requirements and relevant standards.
Skills & Experience: Australian electrical trade qualification and relevant electrical licence/registration.
Experience in industrial, manufacturing, agricultural, processing or fixed plant environments.
Fault finding and maintenance experience across motors, sensors, conveyors, control systems, drives and automated machinery.
PLC, instrumentation, automation or packaging equipment experience would be highly regarded.
Ability to read electrical drawings and apply safe isolation and testing practices.
Requirements Full-time availability and flexibility for after-hours callouts if needed.
Commitment to safety, quality, preventative maintenance and reliable plant operation.
Willingness to learn Gilmac plant systems and support practical improvements across our sites.
Ability to work independently or in a small team.
Current driver's licence.
Pass pre-employment physical and medical tests, including alcohol and drug screening.
Remuneration: Salary package $130,000-$140,000 dependent on experience
