Personal Support Worker / Lifestyle Support Assistant
A private client located on the central Gold Coast is currently seeking a Personal Support Worker / Lifestyle Support Assistant to join their team.
As a Personal Support Worker / Lifestyle Support Assistant you will provide personal care, support and assistance to a client (professional, male, mid-30s) with a spinal cord injury and related physical disability supporting them to live an independent and purposeful life.
Tasks and ResponsibilitiesWorking closely with this private client in their own home and place of work, and generally in the community, you will provide care, support and assistance that includes:
daily living activities includingshowering, toileting (bowel therapy and bladder care), personal hygiene, grooming, dressing and undressing;
transfers includinghoisting in and out of bed and chairs, positioning and rolling using slide sheets, and occasionally manual slings and slide boards;
exercise includingpassive stretching and assistance with rehabilitation therapies(physio, hydro, and occupational);
domestic duties includinglaundry, light meal preparation, and cleaning(vacuuming, mopping, and dusting);
occasional participation in the community includingattending appointments, shopping, social, recreational, and educational activities;
accompanying the client ondomestic and international travelfor business and leisure, with expenses covered.
Experience, Qualifications and Personal AttributesSuccessful applicants will generally have the following experience, qualifications and personal attributes.




Discretion may be exercised in relation to specific requirements as they relate to individual applicants.
ExperienceDemonstrated ability and previous experience working closely with clients with disabilities in a client-focused, client-directed environment, and with their families and support networks;
Capable of undertaking physically demanding activities including manual handling of people and equipment (lifting, bending, carrying, crouching, pushing, etc).
QualificationsVocational qualifications in disability, ageing, healthcare (nursing) or other relevant qualification/s;
First Aid and CPR Certificates from an approved, recognised course provider;
Current Queensland Yellow/Blue Card/s or prepared to undergo criminal history screening;
Open C Class Driver's Licence from an Australian State or Territory;
Valid Australian and/or Recent Zealand Passport.
Personal AttributesAvailable and able to work during the week and weekends (shifts generally commence between 6am and 10pm) on a four-week roster cycle;
Professionalism, strong communication, organisational, literacy and problem-solving skills;
Reliability, punctuality and commitment;
Attention to detail, cleanliness and hygiene;
Discretion, understanding, respect and privacy in relation to the client and their family.
