An opportunity has arisen to be part of this legal team's expansion as a result of significant growth in clients and projects.The role will be a key part of the legal team, supporting the business across financing transactions.
Key responsibilities:
Lead end-to-end franchising transactions, including new franchise grants, resales, renewals, transfers, ownership changes, variations, and exits, and manage franchising documentation
Ensurecompliance through strong awareness and familiarity with disclosure documents and it's changes, and advising on obligations under the Franchising Code of Conduct, Competition and Consumer Act ****, Australian Consumer Law, and other relevant regulations.
Provide commercial and franchising legal advice, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating franchise agreements, licence agreements,



commercial contracts, loan agreements, supply contracts, and intellectual property documentation.
Manage franchise network risk and disputes, handling franchisee breaches, mediations, dispute resolution processes, termination matters, compliance investigations, and enforcement actions while supporting internal compliance frameworks.
Partner with senior management and franchisors to deliver practical legal guidance, stakeholder training, regulatory updates, legal reports, and commercially focused solutions that support franchise network growth and operational objectives
Key requirements:
Ideally 4+ years gained from a leading private practice firm
Experience reviewing and negotiating franchising agreements and transactions
Demonstrate strong understanding of the Franchising Code of Conduct, Australian Consumer Law, and commercial law principles.
Desirable experience in retail/commercial leasing, dispute resolution, mediation, or intellectual property (not essential but beneficial).
