About the role The Ophthalmology Resident Medical Officer (RMO)



contributes to the provision of high-quality clinical services for inpatients and outpatients of WCHN under the supervision of Consultants and participates in the on-call service at
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
The Fellow is responsible for coordinating and managing the on-call roster, which operates on an eight-week rotation and is shared between the Fellow and three Registrars.
Key duties of the role Provide a professional clinical consultant service to the inpatients and outpatients of the Women's and Children's Hospital.
Provides patient-centred care, maintains accurate documentation, upholds patient rights, and contributes to a collaborative workplace.
Participates in clinical and scientific research, clinical audit activities, and the development of research initiatives, ensuring all research is conducted in accordance with ethical guidelines.
Contributes to quality improvement initiatives, continuous improvement of practice and service delivery, and promotes a positive team culture and safe work workplace.
Provides patient-centred care by upholding patient rights, maintaining accurate records, responding to patient needs, and contributing to a positive and cooperative workplace culture.
Skills and Experience Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent qualification and registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
Demonstrated interest in Ophthalmology and preparation for RANZCO written and clinical examinations.




Broad knowledge of Ophthalmology principles and clinical practice.
Effective communication, teamwork, and ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary environment.
