Patch Personnel are proud to partner with an established and expanding Australian Exploration & Production company to source a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join their Engineering team.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a recent engineering graduate or developing engineer to join a supportive and stable team to develop their career within the upstream oil and gas industry.
Working alongside experienced engineers and operational leaders, you will gain hands‐on exposure to producing gas assets, pipeline systems, compression facilities and engineering projects whilst developing the practical skills and technical capability to become a well‐rounded mechanical engineer.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Graduate Mechanical Engineer will join a multidisciplinary team to provide engineering support across production facilities, pipelines, asset integrity, maintenance and capital projects.
Key responsibilities of the Graduate Mechanical Engineer include, though are not limited to:
Supporting mechanical, facilities and pipeline engineering activities across producing gas assets.
Assisting with pipeline integrity, asset reliability and maintenance improvement initiatives.
Contributing to engineering assessments relating to pipelines, pressure equipment, compression systems and mechanical assets.
Assisting with engineering calculations, technical documentation, scopes of work and engineering drawings.




Analysing operational, maintenance and integrity data to support engineering decision-making.
Participating in site inspections, field activities and operational support to develop practical engineering experience.
Assisting with engineering reporting, documentation and regulatory compliance activities.
Collaborating with Operations, Maintenance, Projects and HSE teams to support safe and reliable asset performance.
About You
You will hold a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering qualification and be eager to develop your career within the upstream oil and gas industry.
You will demonstrate strong analytical and problem‐solving skills together with a genuine interest in developing and broadening your skills to include, pipeline systems, rotating equipment and production facilities.
Previous vacation work, internships or exposure to the oil and gas, energy or resources sectors will be highly regarded, though a drive to join an oil and gas operator to develop a long‐term career is most important and essential.
You will be motivated to learn, communicate effectively and build strong working relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
A commitment to safety, continuous improvement and career development will be essential to your success in this role.
This is a permanent, Monday to Friday role based in Sydney, offering structured mentoring, technical development and exposure to facilities engineering, asset improvement projects and multidisciplinary engineering within an established and expanding upstream oil and gas operator.
