Join Jabalbina Yalanji Aboriginal Corporation as NRM Operations Manager based in Mossman, Queensland.
This fixed-term role focuses on leading natural resource management operations, including critical projects funded by Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) aimed at restoring waterways affected by Cyclone Jasper in December **** and enhancing community resilience.
Reporting to the NRM Business Manager, the NRM Operations Manager will oversee a dedicated team of approximately 14 administration, field, and nursery staff, including the NRM Coordinator and Project Manager.
Your leadership will be instrumental in ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
Manage delivery and staffing for DRFA Cultural Stewards Support, Riverine Recovery, and Flexible Funding Grant programs across the Annan, Bloomfield, and Daintree River catchments.
Support and supervise project teams to achieve on-ground targets and deliverables within set timeframes.
Ensure all project staff are appropriately trained and equipped, complying with safety and operational protocols.
Coordinate with multiple stakeholders including the Queensland Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation, contractors, technical experts, and Indigenous governance bodies.
Oversee financial management including budgeting, reporting, risk mitigation, and compliance with funding and legislative requirements.




Develop organizational capacity for future large-scale restoration activities through staff training, procedural development, and resource management.
Maintain robust internal collaboration to optimize resource deployment and support ongoing operational excellence.
Candidate Profile
Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in natural resource management, horticulture, conservation, or ecosystem management.
Proven restoration or land management experience within Indigenous, environmental, or community sectors.
Strong project management capabilities with a commitment to accurate reporting and compliance.
Excellent communication skills, cultural awareness, and a commitment to community empowerment.
Open driver's licence and Blue Card (or ability to obtain).
Strong alignment with Eastern Kuku Yalanji values and respect for cultural protocols and clan governance.
