Workshop Manager | Heavy Earthmoving Equipment
We're looking for a hands-on Workshop Manager to lead our service team while remaining actively involved in the repair, maintenance and diagnostics of heavy earthmoving and construction equipment.
This is a key leadership appointment within the business. The successful candidate will bring extensive mechanical experience, proven leadership skills, and the ability to take ownership of the day-to-day workshop operations while supporting our Pre-Delivery (PD) department. We're seeking someone who leads by example, drives quality, productivity and safety, and is passionate about developing people and building a high-performing workshop culture.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Service Manager, you'll oversee the daily operations of the workshop, ensuring technicians are supported, work is completed efficiently, and customers receive exceptional service. This role combines technical expertise with strong leadership and operational management.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor and develop a team of workshop technicians and apprentices.
Manage the day-to-day operations of the workshop while supporting the Pre-Delivery (PD) department.
Coordinate workflow and allocate jobs to maximise productivity and efficiency.
Diagnose, service and repair heavy earthmoving and construction equipment.
Monitor workshop performance, quality, labour efficiency and job turnaround times.
Ensure all work is completed to OEM standards and complies with WHS requirements.
Work closely with the Parts and Service departments to maintain efficient workshop operations.
Maintain accurate service records, job documentation and warranty claims.
Drive continuous improvement across workshop processes, productivity and team performance.
About You
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
A trade qualification in Heavy Diesel, Mobile Plant or Agricultural Mechanics.
Previous experience as a Workshop Manager, Leading Hand or Senior Technician.
Extensive hands-on experience servicing earthmoving or construction equipment.
Robust diagnostic capabilities across hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems.
Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate, mentor and develop a high-performing team.
Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills.
A strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.
