Are you interested in fish? Can you correctly identify a variety of fish species - live in Cairns & keen to help with fish research?
We are seeking a friendly and knowledgeable Boat Ramp Survey Interviewer to assist with research and monitoring of recreational fishing in the Cairns region. Your role will be to engage with fishermen and the general public at local boat ramps, record catch details, and accurately identify fish species.
About the role:
Conduct interviews with fishermen at public boat ramps in Cairns
Record data on fish species caught as part of ongoing research and monitoring
Work one 4-hour shift per week (Friday, Saturday or Sunday) – 4 shifts per month
What we're looking for:
Genuine interest in fishing and marine life
Strong knowledge of local fish species and confident identification skills




Excellent communication skills and confidence in approaching members of the public
Reliability and attention to detail
Ideal for:
University students studying marine science, biology, or related fields
Retired persons with fishing knowledge looking for a small, regular income
