About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionateClinical Nurse Educator – Peri-Operativeto join our Theatre Education team in a0.6 FTEposition.
Working closely with the Clinical Educator, Clinical Manager and Associate Director of Nursing, you will play a pivotal role in developing the knowledge, confidence and clinical capability of our peri-operative workforce.
You will support the orientation and education of new staff, facilitate ongoing learning opportunities and contribute to maintaining high standards of clinical practice across the Theatre Suite.
This position is worked across early and late shifts, providing education and support to staff throughout the operating day.Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and deliver orientation and clinical induction programs for new peri-operative staff.
Support Graduate Nurse rotations within the Theatre Suite.
Plan, facilitate and evaluate ongoing education and in-service programs.
Assist with mandatory education and competency assessments for theatre staff.
Maintain and update education resources, competency workbooks and learning materials.
Liaise with surgeons, anaesthetists and industry representatives to coordinate educational opportunities.
Provide clinical support, coaching and mentoring to staff during procedures, including facilitating double-scrub opportunities for skill development.
Assist with the development and review of theatre policies, procedures and clinical practice standards.
Support recruitment,
onboarding and professional development initiatives within the department.
Promote a culture of continuous learning, quality improvement and patient safety.
About You
You are an experienced peri-operative nurse who enjoys developing others and is passionate about fostering a positive learning culture.
You will bring:
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA (RN Level 2).
Extensive peri-operative nursing experience across a broad range of specialties.
Demonstrated experience in clinical education, preceptorship or staff development within a theatre environment.
Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and competency-based education.
Excellent understanding of aseptic technique, infection prevention and theatre protocols.
Outstanding communication, coaching and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
A collaborative approach and commitment to continuous quality improvement.
