CDC Victoria is seeking a qualified and experienced Automotive Electrician to join our workshop team. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining and improving the electrical and electronic systems across our fleet of heavy and light vehicles.
As a technical specialist, you will play a key role in supporting fleet reliability, reducing vehicle downtime and ensuring all vehicle systems operate safely and efficiently. You will work with a broad range of technologies including telematics, safety systems, engine and transmission controls, CCTV, passenger information systems and emerging technologies such as battery electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles.

As a technical specialist, you will play a key role in supporting fleet reliability, reducing vehicle downtime and ensuring all vehicle systems operate safely and efficiently. You will work with a broad range of technologies including telematics, safety systems, engine and transmission controls, CCTV, passenger information systems and emerging technologies such as battery electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair complex electrical and electronic faults across CDC Victoria's heavy vehicle, bus and light vehicle fleet using OEM diagnostic tools and specialist testing equipment.
Perform inspections,



maintenance and repairs on high-voltage systems within battery electric buses (BEBs) in accordance with manufacturer specifications and safety requirements.
Install, maintain and repair onboard technology systems, including:
CCTV systems
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
Telematics
Passenger information displays
Communication equipment
Develop and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
Support fleet reliability initiatives through fault analysis, trend identification and preventative maintenance programs.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to workshop personnel in electrical diagnostics and safe working practices.
Ensure all work is completed in compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, Australian Standards and manufacturer guidelines.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology (AU*****).
Current Victorian Driver's Licence.
Demonstrated experience as an Automotive Electrician within a heavy vehicle, bus, truck or transport setting.
Strong experience diagnosing and resolving complex electrical and electronic faults.
Sound knowledge of vehicle multiplex and CANBUS systems.




Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical drawings.
Experience using diagnostic software and electronic testing equipment.
Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
Good computer literacy and experience using maintenance management systems.
