Full-time, 12-month fixed-term opportunity, based on University premises at Moore College
Join the Daffodil Centre as a Research Assistant and play a hands-on role in coordinating qualitative research, engaging with diverse stakeholders and supporting research activities that can make a real difference to cancer prevention and early detection
Base Salary $93,345 + 17% superannuation
This is an opportunity to contribute to meaningful health research that engages with priority populations, community and consumer groups, and health professionals. You will play a key role in supporting research activities from participant recruitment and data collection, including surveys, interviews, focus groups and research data management responsibilities, all in line with research ethics requirements.
Working with general supervision and established research methods, you will plan and prioritise your work, manage competing deadlines and use your initiative to resolve routine matters. You will work closely with Academics and stakeholders to ensure research activities run smoothly, while contributing to research that has the potential to inform better approaches to melanoma screening and prevention.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
Support the design, coordination and delivery of primarily qualitative research activities across the National Targeted Melanoma Screening Roadmap and relevant concurrent projects, ensuring research activities run smoothly and to schedule.
Coordinate participant recruitment, surveys, interviews and focus groups including scheduling, logistics and, where appropriate, representing the research team and facilitating activities with community, consumer and health professional groups.




Support research activities including quantitative and qualitative data collection, literature reviews, data entry and quality checking, while maintaining accurate study databases, records and research documentation.
Contribute to the preparation and maintenance of research protocols, ethics and governance documentation, ensuring research activities uphold ethical requirements relating to consent, privacy and confidentiality.
Work closely with Academic researchers, clinical specialists and a broad range of stakeholders to support project delivery, share research progress and build effective stakeholder relationships
Provide high-quality research coordination and administrative support, including assisting with grant applications, research publications, reporting, compliance, purchasing and other activities that contribute to the successful delivery of the research program.
About you
Tertiary qualifications in public health, health sciences, psychology, social sciences, behavioural sciences, nursing, epidemiology or a related discipline, with demonstrated experience supporting health or medical research projects.
You have experience supporting research activities in a research-intensive environment (ideally health or medical research), with a background in research administration, data collection and analysis, and the management, reporting and dissemination of research data.
You bring strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple concurrent activities, manage research documentation and maintain accurate records with a high level of attention to detail, privacy, and confidentiality.
You understand research ethics, participant confidentiality and informed consent, and privacy requirements.




You are confident using research software and digital systems including REDCap any other relevant systems, with solid computer literacy and the ability to undertake data entry, quality checking and scientific literature searches.
You communicate effectively and build positive relationships with people from diverse backgrounds, and have prior experience with participants, patients, focus groups, and other relevant client types.
You are a collaborative team player who brings a proactive, customer-focused approach to supporting research projects and with the ability to work with internal and external stakeholders, including qualified and academic research team members, research participants, community and consumer groups, health professionals and other stakeholders.
