Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the
Head of Legal & Governance
, theJuniorLawyerwill support the delivery of practical legal,governanceand complianceassistanceacross CBN. This role will contribute to best-practice legal outcomes, effective riskmanagementand strong regulatory compliance, while working closely with internal stakeholders and external advisers asrequired.
In this role, you will support a broad range of legal,governanceand compliance activities, including:
Reviewing,draftingand administering commercial agreements, including NDAs, supplieragreementsand service contracts.
Conducting legal research and preparing explicit summaries, advicenotesand briefing papers for internal stakeholders.
Supporting day-to-day legal matters andassistingwith the coordination of external legal advisers.




Maintaining governance registers,policiesand procedures.
Assisting with Board and Committee papers,agendasand company secretarial activities.
Supporting compliance with AFSL and other regulatory obligations relevant to CBN.
Assistingwith dispute and claims matters, including liaising with insurers and external counsel whererequired.
Identifyingopportunities to improve templates,precedentsand Legal & Governance processes.
You'llbe practical,organisedand eager to continue building your legal career in a supportive in-house environment.You'llalso bring:
A law degree and post-graduate legal experience, either in-house or otherwise.
Exposure to commercial contracts, legal research, policies,proceduresand registers.
Experience supporting a legal, governance, company secretarial or compliance function.
Strong written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear advice notes and briefing papers.
Strong attention to detail when reviewing agreements, registers,policiesand records.
Sound judgement,discretionand the ability to upscale legal, governance or compliance matters appropriately.
Confidence working with internal stakeholders and external advisers.
Experience in financial services, insurance, AFSL compliance or another regulated environment would be highly regarded.
