ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to theManager Technical Services, you will be the site'sNSW Registered Mine Surveyor, responsible for delivering accurate and timely surveying services that support safe, compliant, and efficient mining operations.
This is a key technical role that provides leadership to a small survey team while ensuring compliance with statutory surveying requirements, maintaining mine survey data integrity, and supporting mine planning and operational activities.
This role is a permanent full time position (Monday – Friday) based at Dendrobium mine, near the coastal city of Wollongong in the Illawarra region of NSW, approximately 80 kilometres south of Sydney.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:
Maintain and certify statutory mine plans and survey records.
Prepare and manage the Mine Survey Management Plan.
Maintain underground survey models, mine plans, and survey databases.
Provide surveying support to operational and technical teams across the mine.
Support the Authority to Mine (ATM) process for Development and Longwall operations.
Oversee subsidence monitoring in accordance with legislative and site requirements.
Ensure compliance with relevant NSW mining legislation and site standards.
Participate in risk management processes, investigations, and technical committees.
Manage and maintain survey systems including ArcGIS, Micromine, Web Maps, and Gadsolutions.
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of survey professionals.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance survey performance, data integrity and operational outcomes.
ABOUT YOU
Bachelor of Surveying, Bachelor of Engineering (Surveying), or equivalent qualification.
CurrentNSW Mining Surveyor Registration.
Strong understanding of underground coal mining survey practices and legislation.
Experience maintaining statutory mine plans and survey management systems.
Advanced proficiency inAutoCAD,Leica Total Station, and survey software applications.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Proven ability to build effective working relationships across operational, technical and leadership teams.
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
Minimum 5 years' experience in a mining survey role.
At least 3 years' experience in underground coal mining.
Experience leading, coaching and developing survey professionals.
Demonstrated ability to influence decisions and contribute within multidisciplinary teams.
