Mental Health Clinician, Acute Care Team – Casual Pool

Location: Caringbah, Sydney. Employment type: Casual. Hours: As required. Salary: $40.05 - $61.76 per hour plus superannuation.

Role Overview

Provide evidence‑based, person‑centred acute mental health services to individuals in crisis. Work across a 7‑day rotating roster, with opportunities for casual shifts.

Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and deliver acute mental health services in line with policies and standards.
Perform triage, comprehensive and risk assessments, clinical formulation, safety planning, brief psycho‑education and cooperative discharge planning.
Foster partnerships with consumers, families and internal/external stakeholders to ensure holistic care.
Respond to demands of the role while managing time effectively.
Maintain skilled judgement and use evidence‑based practice.
Implement digital technologies in clinical care.
Participate in quality improvement processes and teaching.
Travel and drive where required.

Qualifications
Relevant qualification: Occupational Therapist, Social Worker (Schedule C qualifications, registered with AHPRA or equivalent); Registered Nurse (RN registration); Psychologist (four‑year degree with registration on the Psychology Board of Australia).




Current full registration or eligibility for membership with respective professional bodies.
Experience providing comprehensive mental health assessments and interventions, including risk assessment, safety planning and discharge planning.
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Experience exercising independent qualified judgement using evidence‑based practice.
Experience leading or participating in quality improvement and teaching activities.
Ability to manage time effectively under pressure.
Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
