Job Description
IExpert Highpoint Key Duties and Responsibilities Examine electronic equipment, circuits, and components using specialised diagnostic tools and testing instruments to identify faults and determine repair requirements. Repair, replace, install, and configure defective electronic components, circuit boards, assemblies, wiring, connectors, and related parts in mobile phones, tablets, laptops, computers, and other electronic devices. Dismantle, repair, reassemble, and test electronic equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and technical standards.
Adjust, calibrate, and conduct functional testing of repaired electronic equipment to ensure correct operation, performance, and reliability before returning devices to customers. Read and interpret technical manuals, circuit diagrams, schematics, service documentation, and manufacturer specifications to diagnose faults and perform repairs accurately. Use specialised electronic testing equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and other diagnostic instruments, to troubleshoot and verify electronic systems.
Perform soldering, desoldering, and component-level repairs on printed circuit boards (PCBs), including surface-mounted (SMD) and through-hole components where required. Maintain accurate service records, repair reports, diagnostic findings, parts replacement details, and testing outcomes. Ensure all repaired equipment complies with manufacturer specifications, workplace safety requirements, quality standards, and applicable industry regulations.
Recommend appropriate repair solutions, replacement parts, and preventative maintenance measures to improve equipment performance and minimise future faults. Safely operate hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and specialised electronic testing instruments while following workplace health and safety procedures.



Dispose of electronic waste and damaged components in accordance with environmental regulations and organisational policies.
Skills and Experience Required Minimum 1–2 years of relevant work experience as an Electronic Equipment Trades Worker or in a similar electronic repair role. AQF Certificate III in Electronics and Communications or an equivalent overseas qualification relevant to electronic equipment repair. Demonstrated knowledge of electronic circuits, components, diagnostic procedures, and fault-finding techniques.
Proven ability to diagnose, repair, and replace electronic components and assemblies at both component and board level. Experience using specialised diagnostic equipment such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and electronic testing instruments. Proficiency in soldering, desoldering, and repairing printed circuit boards and electronic assemblies.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, circuit diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer service manuals. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team in a rapid-paced repair environment.
Sound understanding of workplace health and safety practices, quality assurance procedures, and environmentally responsible disposal of electronic waste. Excellent organisational and communication skills with a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship and customer service.
