Yarram & District Health Service is a vibrant, multi-disciplinary rural health service located in the dairy heartland of South Eastern Victoria, just 2.5 hours from Melbourne and 45 minutes from regional hubs like Traralgon and Sale. Opened in September ****, our purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility serves a warm and safe community of over 3,500 residents. We integrate a busy general practice clinic with comprehensive acute, urgent care, and aged care services to deliver exceptional continuity of care.
The Opportunity & Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate, community-minded Fellow of the RACGP or ACRRM who is deeply energized by teaching and mentoring the next generation of rural doctors. Our facility is fully accredited for all Levels of registrar supervisions with both RACGP and ACRRM.
This integrated position is built on three core pillars
Comprehensive General Practice: Providing primary care as part of the Yarram Medical Centre (YMC) medical team.
Clinical Supervision & Leadership: Serving as the Primary Supervisor for our GP registrars, guiding their safety, wellness, and clinical growth.
Acute & Aged Care Support: Providing essential medical services to hospital inpatients, our 2-bay nurse-led Urgent Care Centre, and residents of our two co-located aged care facilities (30 beds each).

Outstanding Onsite Support: Work alongside 1 Senior doctor (FRACGP), 3 Registrars, 3 Registered Nurses, 3 Receptionists, and an experienced Practice Manager.

6 modern consulting rooms,



a 3-bed treatment bay, Best Practice software, HotDoc, CUBICO, and Polar Report.
Comprehensive Co-located Services
Onsite pathology (Mon-Fri), X-ray, ultrasound, echocardiogram, a 5-chair dialysis unit, and a broad allied health network (physiotherapy, psychology, dietetics, occupational therapy, and pharmacy).
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care & Excellence
Initiate and manage clinical care for general practice, emergency/urgent care, acute inpatients, and residential aged care patients.
Provide clinical leadership during emergency presentations within the health service.
Coordinate patient care in accordance with best practices, collaborating closely with regional tertiary referral centres (Latrobe Regional Hospital and Central Gippsland Health).
Document relevant clinical information legibly, concisely, and accurately within electronic health records.
Actively participate in clinical audits, quality activities, and the AGPAL practice accreditation process.
Education, Supervision & Research
Act as the Primary Supervisor for Level 3 & 4 GP Registrars, fostering a supportive, high-quality learning environment.
Deliver and participate in targeted educational activities for registrars, nursing staff, allied health professionals, and interested community groups.
Contribute to ongoing college accreditations for YMC and the structured registrar education pathway.
Maintain personal qualified knowledge, including Vocational Registration (VR) and Continuing Medical Education (CME) accreditation requirements.
Leadership, Administration & Strategy
Provide clinical leadership to the broader multi-disciplinary healthcare team.
Participate in relevant organizational committees, corporate planning, and health service needs assessments.
Practice medicine in an efficient,



cost-effective manner, maximizing appropriate Medicare initiatives (e.g., chronic disease management, and immunizations).
Adhere to all YDHS human resource policies, workplace health and safety (WHS) protocols, and the organizational Code of Conduct.
Key Selection Criteria
Essential Criteria
Qualifications: Fellowship of the RACGP (FRACGP) or ACRRM (FACRRM).
Registration: Current, unrestricted Specialist Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
Clinical Experience: Broad, contemporary experience in rural general practice and emergency or urgent care medicine.
Teaching Passion: A clear, demonstrable passion for clinical education and a commitment to teaching the next generation of rural GPs.
Teamwork & Communication: Outstanding communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary healthcare team.
Desirable Criteria
Prior formal experience as an accredited GP Registrar Supervisor.
Historic Vocational Registration (VR).
Typical Work Schedule
While hours of work require a degree of flexibility to accommodate clinical demands, emergencies, or unique circumstances, a standard full-time routine is structured as follows:
Days: Monday to Friday
Routine: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM: Ward rounds, inpatient case management, and hospital care (when rostered).
9:00 AM - 5:30 PM: General Practice medical clinic consultations
Performance Appraisal & Review
A collaborative set of performance criteria will be agreed upon between the Practitioner and the Executive Director within the first 6 months of commencement.
Performance and development will be formally reviewed at least twice every 12 months.
Key Performance Indicators
Service delivery benchmarks, active participation in quality assurance and practice accreditation, collaborative interdisciplinary teamwork, and commitment to personal professional development.
