About the role
We are seeking a
Registered Nurse who is also open to completing Disability Support Worker Shifts
to join The Companion Group. If you are not a registered nurse and wish to join us as just a Disability Support Worker, please apply using our other job ad.
This is a
casual position
that offers flexibility; successful candidates will work with NDIS clients in their home or work from home for nursing administrative duties. Working across both discipline areas, you will play a vital role in delivering holistic, high-quality care that meets both the practical support needs and clinical requirements of our service users.
Key responsibilities
As a
Disability Support Worker
, you will:
Assisting participants with daily living tasks including showering, dressing, and meals
Supporting participants with community activities such as shopping, appointments, and exercise
Implementing behavioural, speech therapy, and occupational therapy strategies under specialist direction
Monitoring and reporting on participant wellbeing and goals
Completing rostering and administrative tasks via our digital platforms
as a
Registered Nurse
, you will:
Meet with participants, and their medical care team to assess clinical need and determine the scope of high intensity supports required.
Develop comprehensive, individualised care plans that document each participant's needs, goals, risk factors, and the specific strategies staff must follow.
Ensure all care plans comply with the NDIS Practice Standards and TCG policies
Translate clinical recommendations from GPs and allied health professionals into transparent, actionable guidance for support staff.
What we're looking for
Essential qualifications and experience:
Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse
Demonstrated experience working with people with disability
Demonstrated competency across the high intensity support areas:
Enteral feeding
Dysphagia management
Tracheostomy care
Urinary catheter management
Current First Aid certificate
Victorian driver's licence and registered car with insurance
NDIS Worker Screening Check
Working with Children Check
NDIS Orientation Module (or willingness to complete before starting)
