The Residential Energy Rating team is looking for software developers and specialists to join our growing team.
The Opportunity
The Senior Business Analyst supports the delivery and modernisation of the FirstRate5 (FR5) product suite by establishing a clear understanding of current state systems, workflows, and processes, and defining future state requirements aligned with strategic and architectural direction.
The role contributes to both platform modernisation initiatives and ongoing product delivery by improving requirements, supporting backlog readiness, and ensuring alignment between business needs, technical implementation, and regulatory obligations (e.g. NatHERS).
Duties
Analyse and document current state systems, workflows, and business processes, including system interactions and dependencies across the FR5 platform, to support platform modernisation initiatives
Identify inefficiencies, risks, and improvement opportunities, including manual workarounds and process gaps, and contribute to defining future state solutions aligned with modernisation objectives
Elicit, analyse, and document functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring clarity, completeness, and alignment with business, technical, and regulatory (e.g.NatHERS) requirements
Define future state workflows, requirements, and solution options in collaboration with the Solution Architect, Technical Lead, and stakeholders, supporting the transition to a modernised platform
Translate business needs into clear, structured artefacts (e.g.user stories, acceptance criteria) that are testable, prioritised, and ready for development
Facilitate stakeholder engagement and workshops to gather, validate, and align requirements, priorities,
and outcomes across business and technical teams
Define and document data requirements and data flows, including supporting data migration planning and identifying data quality risks across interconnected systems
Contribute to improved delivery practices and team capability, including backlog refinement, definition of ready, consistent documentation standards, and identification of opportunities for process improvement, automation, and AI-assisted workflows
Skills and relevant experience
Demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst in software delivery or digital product environments
Proven ability to work on system modernisation, transformation, or complex application environments
Strong capability in requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation, including user stories and acceptance criteria
Experience bridging business stakeholders and technical teams, with the ability to translate business needs into implementable requirements
Demonstrated ability to improve and mature delivery practices, particularly in environments with evolving or immature processes
Strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills, including running workshops and aligning diverse stakeholders
Understanding of system integration, APIs, and data flows, with the ability to work across multiple interconnected systems
Ability to work collaboratively with architects, developers,
and product stakeholders in a multidisciplinary team

This is a fixed term position available for a period of 12 months. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
