About the role
The Shift Fixed Plant Fitter will be responsible for the maintenance of the site's fixed plant including screens, crushers and the barge loading facility (conveyors and spreader).
Key Responsibilities
Maintain machinery through inspections, servicing, & general repair to scheduled deadlines
Assist maintenance department with all associated works, be a part of the team
Provide assistance to the diesel fitters maintaining mobile plant where necessary.
Ensure safe work practices including the development and implantation of safe work method statements, risk assessments, injury and incident reporting and other H&S; requirements.
Work as part of the Metro Bauxite Hills Operation supporting teamwork, safety, communication, trust and all other Metro Mining Values and Code of Conduct.
Maintain the plants in a reliable, tidy and safe manner, including maintenance such as fuelling, tyre replacement, fluid levels, cleaning, lubrication and greasing.
Communicate effective with the team on the care and maintenance needs of the plants.
Assist with physical tasks,



that may include use of a shovel, pick axe or other hand tool when required.
Complete of timesheets, daily plant checklists, daily running sheets and any other work-related documentation.
Work within Metro Mining's policies, procedures, Code of Conduct, Values and employee handbook at all times.
Ensure Safe Operating Procedures are in place and are adhered to
Ensure that all safety, mining and other legislation relevant to the mine site are met and adhered to.
Other tasks as directed which may include manual labour such as shovelling when required.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualified Plant Mechanic/Fitter (Cert III Engineering – Mechanical Trade)
Working at Heights
Confined Space Entry
Elevated Work Platform
HR Drivers Licence
First Aid certificate preferred
3 years mine site experience.
Experience with fixed plant repairs including screens, crushers and conveyors.
Ability to work in a fast-paced workshop.
Excellent trouble shooting, breakdown and diagnostic skills.
Maintenance, service, breakdown and diagnostic skills
Ability to read, interpret and understand plans, diagrams, drawings and specifications
Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Excellent verbal and written communication
Organised and able to meet deadlines
