Penrith Early Learning Centre is seeking a talented and passionateCentre Cookto join our team on apart‐time basis.
This role is based inPenrith NSW ****and is fundamental to the wellbeing and development of the children in our care.
As Centre Cook, you will be responsible for planning, preparing and delivering nutritious, balanced meals and snacks that meet the dietary needs and preferences of all children attending our centre.
This is a hands‐on position that plays a vital role in supporting children's health, growth and learning through quality nutrition.
Key responsibilities
Plan and prepare nutritious, age‐appropriate meals and snacks in accordance with Australian Dietary Guidelines and childcare nutrition standards
Maintain accurate records of menus, ingredients, allergen information and dietary requirements for all children
Manage food ordering, stock control and inventory to ensure cost‐effective operations and minimal food waste
Prepare meals that cater to various dietary requirements, including allergies, intolerances, cultural preferences and special needs
Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards, including proper food storage, handling and preparation techniques
Keep the kitchen clean, organised and compliant with health and safety regulations
Work collaboratively with educators to understand individual children's nutritional needs and preferences
Communicate effectively with parents regarding meal planning and any dietary concerns
Ensure compliance with relevant food safety legislation and centre policies
Support sustainability practices within the kitchen and centre operations
What we're looking for
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification and experience in a childcare or education food service environment




Sound knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements, particularly for young children from birth to school age
Understanding of food allergies, intolerances and cultural dietary practices
Current Food Safety Supervisor certification or ability to obtain this within three months
Demonstrated experience in batch cooking and meal planning for groups
Strong knowledge of food hygiene, safety and storage standards
Ability to manage budgets and control food costs effectively
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Solid communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with educators and families
Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) or ability to obtain one prior to commencement
