The Role
EPE is seeking a hands on and creative Training Systems Fabrication Specialist to join our growing team in Brisbane, based at a new facility in Aspley.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys turning concepts into reality through CAD design, 3D printing, fabrication and prototyping. Working across Defence, Law Enforcement and Government training environments, you'll design and manufacture realistic training aids, simulation devices and prototype systems that support critical capability development.

Key responsibilities
Design & Development
Develop detailed 2D and 3D CAD models for training aids, simulation devices and prototype equipment.
Translate customer requirements and operational concepts into practical training solutions.
Produce technical drawings, manufacturing files and supporting documentation.
Modify and improve existing training systems based on user feedback and lessons learned.
Support concept development and product innovation initiatives.
Additive Manufacturing & Prototyping
Operate and maintain 3D printers and additive manufacturing equipment.




Prepare models for printing, including slicing, support generation and optimisation.
Select appropriate materials based on operational and training requirements.
Produce prototypes for testing, evaluation and demonstrations.
Conduct post processing activities including assembly, finishing and painting.
Manufacture, assemble and maintain training aids and simulation devices.
Utilise workshop tools and equipment to fabricate components.
Perform repairs, upgrades and modifications to existing systems.
Manage product bills of materials (BOMs) and component sourcing.
Ensure products meet quality, safety and customer requirements.
Capability Support
Support training activities through the preparation and maintenance of training equipment.
Assist instructors and capability managers with the development of new training solutions.
Participate in customer demonstrations, exhibitions and capability showcases.
Provide technical advice relating to design and manufacturing processes.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Certificate IV, Diploma, trade qualification or equivalent experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Design, Mechanical Design or a related discipline.
Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks.
Experience operating 3D printing and additive manufacturing equipment.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Experience building, assembling or fabricating mechanical products.
Strong practical engineering and problem solving skills.
High attention to detail and quality.




Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently.
Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Defence security clearance.
Advanced CAD modelling experience.
Defence industry experience.
Experience developing Defence or Law Enforcement training aids.
Experience with simulation systems or training technologies.
CNC machining, laser cutting or other fabrication experience.
Electronics assembly or integration experience.
Familiarity with Defence capability environments.
Existing Defence security clearance.

You are a practical problem-solver who enjoys designing and building products from concept through to delivery. You are equally comfortable working on a CAD workstation, operating 3D printers or assembling components in a workshop environment.
