About the Role
We are expanding our design team and are looking for an experienced Garment Technician who can bring their skills to the iconic aesthetic that is One Teaspoon. Based at One Teaspoon head office in Brookvale, Sydney.
The role will be part time 3-4 days per week and can be flexible on the days and hours worked.
Reporting into the Head of Design, you will be required to manage fits, specs and tech packs to ensure the team provides clear instructions on design, development, and technical garment construction to suppliers, maintaining high quality and well-constructed garments.
Key Responsibilities:
Managing the fitting process in collaboration with the Designers, assessing fabric, fit and quality and making necessary changes and improvements as required.
Communicating all required changes back to the manufacturer and suppliers accurately and in detail and continuing this process over multiple samples until relevant action is taken and the garment is ready for production.
Updating all internal and shared documents as needed, accurately and in a timely manner.
Establishing and maintaining relationships with suppliers to enable seamless communication and productive processes.
Assist Designers in the development of new fabrics, trims and prints in conjunction with the supplier and in line with the critical path.
Working with the Designer to set up new size charts for new collection development
Inspecting fabric and trim approvals and communicating to suppliers with approval, rejection and/or feedback to ensure all fabric and trims are cohesive in range and to the required standards.
Ensuring efficiencies are maintained and critical paths are adhered to in all instances.
Managing SMS final spec comments and submission to factory.
Inspecting final shipping samples for quality and fit and cross-checking with what was approved to send any feedback to the manufacturer prior to shipping bulk product.
Ensuring any quality concerns found on shipping samples are resolved or excluded from bulk delivery Inspecting bulk production on arrival to ensure shipped goods are of high quality and match the approved standard.
Communicating bulk approvals/rejections/issues to the wider business as necessary, and following up with suppliers or internal teams to resolve.
What we are looking for:
Strong understanding of fabric qualities, functions and limitations
Ability to understand garment construction and fabrics that align
Tertiary qualification in Fashion Design or relevant field
Able to work independently
Be self-motivated, positive and enthusiastic
