Kings Patent & Trade Marks Attorneys (Kings IP) is an independent intellectual property firm located at 388 Queen Street in the heart of the Brisbane CBD. Our team of registered Australian and New Zealand patent and trade marks attorneys act for individuals and corporate clients across a wide range of industries - from mining technologies and mechanical engineering to life sciences and software - protecting their patents, trade marks and registered designs in Australia and Internationally.
We are a close-knit, growing firm where paralegals work directly alongside the attorneys and see matters through from filing to registration.
About the Role
We are seeking a junior to intermediate IP paralegal to work directly with one of our senior partners. This is a genuine prospect to build a career in intellectual property with hands-on exposure to patent, trade mark and design matters in Australia, New Zealand and overseas.
Your responsibilities will include:
Preparing and filing patent, trade mark and design applications with IP Australia, IPONZ and foreign patent offices (via our overseas associates)
Monitoring and managing deadlines, renewals and official correspondence
Preparing client reporting letters and correspondence with foreign associates




Maintaining matter records in our document management system
General administrative support to the partner and the wider attorney team
About You
1-4 years' experience as a paralegal, legal secretary or administrator, ideally in intellectual property or another deadline-driven legal practice
Experience with Equinox (or a comparable IP management system) will be highly regarded
Excellent attention to detail — deadlines and accuracy are the heart of this role
Strong written communication and a professional client manner
Well-organised, reliable and comfortable managing competing priorities
Available to commence immediately (or at short notice) on a full-time basis
Candidates without prior IP experience but with strong legal administration experience and a keen eye for detail are encouraged to apply - full training in IP procedures will be provided.

Salary of $80,000 plus superannuation
