An exciting opportunity exists for a skilled Senior Mining Engineer to join a leading open cut coal operation in Queensland's Bowen Basin. You will play a key role in delivering safe, effective and executable enabling plans focused on ensuring stripping paths and bottleneck processes are enabled to succeed. You will report to the Manager Mine Planning with coaching and mentoring from the Superintendents and Manager. The role is under the new framework of Critical Path Project Management, a new and innovative approach to mine planning for stable, predictable business plan delivery. You will be responsible for ensuring the SRF Mine Plan is integrated into the 90-Day Project Activity Schedule during each rolling update, managing potential disruptions early to minimise impact on execution.
This role offers exposure to a large-scale mining environment and the chance to contribute to short to medium-term planning while collaborating closely with operations and technical teams.
The role is located in the Bowen Basin working across a 4:3 day shift 12-hour roster. Residential, DIDO and FIFO (BNE to MOV) available.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and deliver enabling plans and schedules such as dozer push, earthworks, engineering projects etc (weekly to budget horizons)
Integrate the SRF and budget critical path enabling activities into the weekly mine plans in a resource balanced approach
Produce and maintain concepts aligned to operational requirements
Monitor and report schedule compliance




Understand site critical paths, buffer risk, and enabling activities along the critical path guiding site schedulers and project managers to deliver on priorities
Work closely with operations teams to ensure plans are practical and achievable
Communicate planning outcomes clearly to production and execution teams
Contribute to incident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives
Build strong cross-functional relationships across planning and operations
Strong project management of critical path enablers to support bottleneck stripping processes
About You
Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
Experience in open cut coal mine planning, particularly in sequencing, scheduling and project management
Practical knowledge of short to medium-term mine planning
Proficiency in mining software such as Deswik, Vulcan, and SPRY
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Results-driven with a focus on safety, efficiency and continuous improvement
